COVID-19 Community Update and Visit Restriction

May 22, 2020

Dear Residents and Family Members of Tealwood Senior Living and Senior Care Communities,

We want to provide another update regarding the current “Stay Safe MN” order. As in our previous message this order does not change current guidance for visitations and leaves at this time.

We must continue to advise residents not to leave the facility during this time nor will we be able to set chairs outside even with social distancing for visiting as we had hoped. We know that brings great disappointment to many of you but please understand, as providers of healthcare we must follow the direction of the Health Department, Central Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for the good of all our residents and our staff. We are asking you to continue to use phone calls, texting, SKYPE, etc. to connect with your loved ones.

CMS released guidelines this week to state and local officials to help determine the level of mitigation in order to continue preventing the spread of COVID-19 within our communities. The vulnerable nature of those living in nursing homes and assisted living communities with health issues and being older places them at a much higher risk than the rest of the public. It requires aggressive efforts to limit COVID-19 exposure and to prevent the spread within our communities. We must continue to adhere to the criteria to help ensure as much safety as possible. The statewide testing will be imperative to achieve this goal. We are directed to continue to restrict visitors (except for compassionate care, end of life situations) until phase three is achieved which includes:

  • There have been no new, onset of COVID-19 cases for 28 days
  • There are no staff shortages
  • There is adequate supplies of personal protective equipment and essential cleaning and disinfection supplies to care for residents
  • There is adequate access to testing for COVID-19
  • There is hospital beds capacity in the area for wards and intensive care units

We must and will take the necessary preventative measures to accomplish as much safety as we can. We will continue with residents eating in their rooms or apartments and will not provide any gatherings of any size for exercise or religious services. We are constantly monitoring the situation and all updates from the department of health each day. As stated, we must get the testing completed and are waiting for the state to schedule our community.

We appreciate your support and help in keeping yourself and everyone around us safer. For COVID-19 updates, please refer to our website at: www.twsl.com.

If you have any questions, please contact the Executive Director of your individual community.

Kind Regards,
